Like Moth’s to a Flame

One of the options included in my higher end packages is something I call the ‘Same-Day Edit’. Many don’t know what that is, so I’m going to share all of what that entails here…

But first…
I remember when my wife and I got married, we took a 7 hour drive up the coast for the first stop of our honeymoon road trip. When we arrived we soaked up the sights and sounds of being on vacation and away from home. After so much time having been invested in planning our wedding, we wondered how it turned out! What did our guests think, did the cake turn out the way it was in the pictures, did our florist come through with the amazing flowers we hoped, and what did we look like all decked out? The wedding day for a bride/groom flies by so quickly it’s hard to remember details, you are the center of attention the entire day and because of that, there is a lot that you can miss. We just wanted a quick peak at a few pictures from our wedding. We resorted to Facebook to see what our friends had put up, but were left unsatisfied.

Fast Forward to today:
This is why I include the option for the Same-Day edit. What I do is bring a 32″ TV to the wedding and set it up before any of the festivities. When the reception begins, it will show beautiful photos from the engagement session for your guests to enjoy while waiting for the grand entrance. THEN, when dinner is served, I will take a handful of pictures taken up until that point, edit them, and put them into a slide show for everyone to enjoy. Guests are ALWAYS blown away that they get to see EDITED pictures of the first kiss, the bridal party being silly, getting ready shots, and the romantics of the bride and groom within only a few hours of the photos having been taken. It’s quite a contrast when compared to the typical wait of 4-8 weeks to get the first glimpse. An added bonus of the same day edit is that the photos are put online within 24 hours of the wedding so the bride/groom and guests can come back and view them again!

People have a crazy desire for immediate gratification (myself included), and this offering acknowledges that.

I want to know what you think! If you’ve already been married is this something you wish you could have had? If you haven’t been married yet, is this something you would like to have?

  1. Hello,

I was wondering how you created those slideshow for your photos. Do you use a program or is it something within wordpress? I would appreciate a reply. Thanks.

    • Hi there, thanks for the question. There are a few different methods I use to create the slideshows, some are done using wordpress (you will see the option to insert a ‘Gallery’ or a ‘Slideshow’ when uploading/choosing photos to use). I also use Smugmug to host my photo galleries and I’m able to link galleries into my wordpress blog using the HTML. Some slideshows are created in a photo editing program I use called Lightroom, which I then upload to Youtube, and from there it’s super easy to share onto a blog (upload your video and when finished click the ‘Embed’ button, which will provide you with the HTML code – copy that code and when writing a wordpress blog click on the upper right hand corner where it says ‘view HTML code’ paste your code in there and you’re golden!). Lastly I use a subscription based service called Animoto which allows you to upload photos/video and it creates a slideshow for you that’s quite dynamic and set to music. I hope this has helped you out!

I tried visiting your blog to see if you’re a photographer, or see what you’re blogging about but I don’t see anything. Are you just starting up your blog? Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions!

  2. Hi Brian.

Thank you for your quick reply 🙂 I do like photography but the blog i’m setting up has another purpose. My father is selling his house and he wants a spot on the internet to put some photos on.
I might create another blog for myself once i’ve figured out how this all works. I’ve been meaning to get into photography for a while now and when i get started, i’ ll put them in a blog 🙂 I’ll let you know haha.

But thanks again for the information!
